Autologous: from the same person, stem cells that are taken from the patient's own body.

Allogeneic: the transplanted cells come from a donor; this may be a sibling, another relative, or someone unrelated to the patient. The cells can even come from umbilical cord blood.

Haploidentical: the donor is only 50% compatible with the recipient.
