For Blood Banks to work, this vital liquid supply needs constant voluntary donors who generously donate millions of units of blood and blood components to save many lives each year.

In emergency situations, such as an earthquake or even the one we are facing today, the number of blood donations has been reduced due to social distancing. However, we need your support to increase the life expectancy and quality of life of patients with serious illnesses, as well as to carry out complex medical or surgical procedures.

We invite you to join the ABC Blood Donor Club to guarantee a reliable and sufficient supply of this vital liquid to those who need it.

Directions for donating blood:

  • Minimum weight 50 Kg.

COVID-19 measures

Since the beginning of the pandemic, at ABC Medical Center we have implemented strict security measures with totally isolated and separate areas for the care of patients with COVID-19.

Based on the National Center for Blood Transfusion (Centro Nacional de la Transfusión Sanguínea, CNTS) indications supported by the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19), please consider the following:

  • Avoid donating if you have respiratory infection symptoms or had them in the last two weeks.
  • If possible, go to the Blood Bank alone (to avoid crowds).
  • After your donation, inform the Blood Bank if you are diagnosed as a probable or suspected coronavirus case within 45 days after donating.
  • You can only be a candidate to donate if:
  • You do not have symptoms and have not been in contact with a person considered a probable or suspected COVID-19 case or have had direct contact with their respiratory secretions or body fluids.
  • You traveled to areas WITHOUT recent local transmission and have no symptoms.
  • If you have traveled to areas with recent transmission, had symptoms or contact with a suspected or probable COVID-19 cases, had symptoms and ruled out coronavirus infection, the doctor will indicate the waiting period to be able to donate once you have fully recovered and completed your therapy (from 30 to 90 days, depending on the case).
