Clinical analyses
Clinical analyses consist of the study of the components taken with biological samples of the body that can come from blood, urine, or tissue, among others, obtaining very useful results that are subsequently interpreted by a doctor to confirm or rule out a diagnosis.
The usefulness of clinical analyses is not limited exclusively to patients or sick people, they are also performed on healthy people who seek a periodic review for the prevention or early detection of illnesses.
What are the types of clinical analyses?
There are various types of clinical analyses that can be requested, depending on the type of information that needs to be obtained, such as:
- Stool parasite or hidden blood test.
- Complete blood count.
- Basic metabolic panel.
- Liver function tests.
- Lipid profile.
- Kidney profile.
- Thyroid profile.
- Complete urinalysis.
Among the different existing clinical analyzes is the complete blood count, also known as a blood test.
It is a test where, in general, doctors ask their patients to evaluate data such as glucose, hemoglobin, or white blood cell concentration, among others.
Generally, an 8 to 12 hours fast is requested before the test for correct blood analysis, because food and drinks can enter the bloodstream and influence the results.
Once these requirements are met, you should go to the clinical analysis laboratory for the corresponding test.
What are complete blood counts used for?
By identifying the chemical substances found in the blood, the doctor will be able to know how the different organs of the body are and identify some diseases that may be affecting the patient, such as anemia, diabetes, liver diseases, or cancer.
Although there is a blood test chart and their normal values are already established, your doctor should make the interpretation based on the particular characteristics of each case.
