General liquid diet

This type of diet consists of providing liquids, proteins, carbohydrates, and fats to the patient. It is used as the second food source during the post-operative period or when a liquid not specified in the clear liquid diet is required. It is also used in a period of intestinal transition between clear liquids and a bland diet, in patients with mixed feeding (parenteral and oral), with swallowing and chewing problems, or with inflammatory problems of the digestive system.

  • Papaya juice.
  • Orange juice.
  • Carrot juice.
  • Grapefruit juice.
  • Plum juice.
  • Grape juice.
  • Apple juice.
  • Jello with or without sugar.
  • Milk-based jello.
  • Custard.
  • Strained soup.
  • Creamy vegetable soups.
  • Natural fruit water.
  • Milk with or without flavor.
  • Infusions (chamomile, lemon, mint).
  • Sorbets and ice cream

Only the doctor or nutritionist can authorize any of these foods.

Breakfast:

  • Strawberry jello.

  • Cold milk.
  • Chamomile tea.
Lunch:
  • Carrot creamy soup.
  • Orange juice.
  • Custard.
  • Flavored water.
  • Lemon tea.
  • Strawberry ice cream.
Dinner:
  • Fat-free soup.
  • Carrot juice.
  • Custard.
  • Hot milk.
  • Chamomile tea.
Note: The type of diet can be modified when the patient is lactose intolerant, eliminating products that contain it. If the patient has high cholesterol, whole milk is substituted for skim milk.
