Emergencies can be classified into several types, ranging from external events that could affect the building, such as explosions, collisions, terrorist attacks, vandalism, or protests, to dangerous natural events like storms, floods, tornadoes, and earthquakes.<\/p>\n
In Mexico, earthquakes are common, which is why companies and employees share responsibility for having the right information and training to respond if one occurs. Recommendations for Responding to Workplace Emergencies:<\/p>\n
Since it’s impossible to predict the future or know exactly what type of emergency might occur at work, it’s best to develop an emergency response manual that classifies the different types of emergencies, explains how to respond to each one, includes a building evacuation protocol, and provides first aid instructions for accidents, natural disasters, or medical emergencies.<\/p>\n
It’s also important to establish a trained emergency response team that knows what to do in the event of an incident.
