Here are some myths about donating blood:<\/span><\/p>\n

Myth: <\/b>You only have to donate blood in case of disasters or wars.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fact: <\/b>blood is needed every day to care for injured people, sick people, among others.<\/span> Altruistic blood is safer than blood donated by replacement or emergency.<\/span><\/p>\n

Myth: <\/b>Diabetics or those with heart disease cannot donate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fact: <\/b>they can, as long as their levels are controlled and they are not taking medication or insulin.<\/span><\/p>\n

Myth: <\/b>people with tattoos or piercings can’t donate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fact: <\/b>yes they can after a year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Myth: <\/b>to donate blood you have to fast.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fact: <\/b>it is only recommended not to have eaten in the last two hours before donation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Myth: <\/b>it’s painful.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fact:<\/b> pain threshold varies from person to person.<\/span> The material with which the extraction is performed is made to cause as little damage as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

Myth: <\/b>donating blood makes you fat or lose weight.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fact: <\/b>false.<\/span> Between 400 and 450 ml are taken when donating, an amount that does not cause any type of change.<\/span><\/p>\n

Myth: <\/b>donating makes you weak.<\/span><\/p>\n
