Visitors and family guide

For most patients at ABC Medical Center, being visited by family and friends is important in the recovery process. ABC welcomes anyone who wishes to visit any of the patients, but there are some visit restrictions so that they can receive all the care they need at the time they need it.

In addition, the patient has to rest to recover. To achieve this, we require your help and cooperation.

We ask you to follow the schedules and the number of people in the room established in each of the hospitalization areas.

Due to restrictions from the Ministry of Health, it is important to remember that children under 8 years old are particularly vulnerable to infections that may occur in a hospital. For this reason:

ACCESS IS PROHIBITED FOR CHILDREN UNDER 8 YEARS OLD TO ANY HOSPITALIZATION AREA AND TO GENERAL INTENSIVE CARE, INTERMEDIATE CARE, AND CARDIOVASCULAR INTENSIVE CARE AREAS.

To request access for a child under 8 years old to any hospital area, their vaccination record must be presented to the Public Services Department 24 hours prior to the visit, to validate permission with the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit, according to the conditions of each patient and their environment.

As a safety measure, it is essential that all children under 1.20 m in height check in with the Security Guard at each entrance to receive their wristband, which grants access only to consultation rooms, common areas, clinical services, and pediatrics. Minors must remain in the ground floor waiting areas.

Restrictions for floral arrangements, fruit arrangements, helium balloons, furniture, and electronic devices

For patient safety, ABC Medical Center: DOES NOT ALLOW THE ENTRY OF NATURAL FLOWERS, FRUITS, OR HELIUM BALLOONS into hospital rooms or intensive, intermediate, general, cardiovascular, and pediatric care areas.

In addition, THE ENTRY OF ELECTRICAL DEVICES AND FURNITURE IS PROHIBITED, as these may interfere with the operation of medical equipment and the patient’s care in their room.

If your family or friends send or bring a floral or fruit arrangement, it will be kept at the Security Modules at each entrance, and you may pick it up upon discharge.

If you require any transportation service, please contact the Security staff at the lobby of each campus, or at the Santa Fe Campus in the Customer Service area to call a local taxi and thus be safe in the transfer.

If you want to give something special, in our gift shop, managed by the Volunteer Ladies, you will find a wide variety of items whose sales are destined for the updating of medical equipment, ABC capital projects, social impact clinics, nursing education, etc.

ABC Medical Center has a religious support service through religious ministers who come daily to visit patients and families who require it. If you wish to receive religious support during your stay, you can contact the Customer Service area. In addition, there are Jewish Prayer Rooms at your disposal on both campuses.

The Volunteer Ladies Group is fundamental for ABC Medical Center, its members donate their time to make the stay of patients and visitors as comfortable as possible.

• Winners Circle for cancer patients and their families at the ABC Cancer Center.
• Live Light for bariatric surgery patients at the ABC Obesity & Nutrition Center.
• STROKE Support Group for patients and relatives who have had a STROKE, at the Neurology Center.
• Support group for patients and families with traumatic brain injury.
• Support Group for patients who have suffered an acute myocardial infarction.
