What it's for:

BCR-ABL test is generally used to diagnose or rule out chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) or a specific form of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) called positive Philadelphia ALL. Positive Philadelphia means that a Philadelphia chromosome was found. The test is not used to diagnose other types of leukemia. To find out if cancer treatment is effective, see if a patient has developed resistance to treatment.
