What it's for:

Hepatobiliary disease diagnosis and monitoring, is currently the most sensitive liver disease enzymatic indicator. To determine if the alkaline phosphatase elevations are due to skeletal disease (normal gamma-glutamyltransferase: GGT) or reflect the presence of hepatobiliary disease (high GGT). A screening test for hidden alcoholism.
