Disease

It is an intense pain located between the pelvic area and the abdomen of women before or during the menstrual period. Although dysmenorrhea can appear spontaneously in women of any age, it is more common in those who smoke, drink alcoholic beverages regularly, and are overweight or obese.

Signs and symptoms Dysmenorrhea

Symptoms usually include colic, pain in the abdomen and pelvis days before or during the menstrual period, accompanied by headaches, nausea, dizziness, lower back pain, and excessive fatigue.

Diagnosis and treatment Dysmenorrhea

To establish a proper diagnosis, your ABC doctor will ask about your sex life to establish your health status in this area, examine your medical history, and request additional studies such as ultrasounds and blood tests.

The choice of treatment will depend on the diagnosis, although rest, hot baths, modification of eating habits, as well as the prescription of painkillers and anti-inflammatories are usually recommended.
