Menopause is when the ovaries stop working properly and menstruation disappears, while the climacteric refers to a more extensive concept that covers the entire period from when the first symptoms of transition from the reproductive to the non-reproductive stage begin (4 to 6 years before menopause), including menopause.

The climacteric usually begins after the age of 40 and 45, while menopause usually occurs between the age of 45 and 50.

With menopause, the risks of developing various diseases increase significantly, such as:

Diagnosis and treatment Menopause and climacteric

Generally, no type of study is necessary to diagnose, but due to the symptoms, in some cases blood tests can be done to rule out other conditions.

Likewise, there is no direct treatment for menopause, rather it focuses on counteracting the symptoms and preventing possible ailments that could appear later, being hormonal therapy the most used for these purposes.
