The process to participate as a plasma donor is as follows:

  1. Contact the ABC Medical Center Research Team at 52731138.
  2. The researchers will interview you to assess whether you meet the donor candidate criteria based on the protocol.
  3. If you meet these criteria, the Researcher will meet with you to explain the protocol and the informed consent, which, if you agree to participate, you must sign in duplicate (one copy is for the researchers and the other for you), in addition, a health questionnaire will be applied, as well as a general physical examination. At this appointment you must provide the Researcher with a copy of the following:
    • Laboratory test result with which you were diagnosed with COVID-19
    • Positive blood test for antibodies against SARS-CoV-2
    • Laboratory test result with a negative result for COVID-19 from one or more nasopharyngeal swab samples or a blood molecular diagnostic test (PCR).
  4. If you meet the prerequisites, the Researcher will make an appointment with the Observatorio campus Blood Bank and will inform you what day and time you must go. Note: Your punctuality and attendance are important. You cannot arrive at the Blood Bank without an appointment, nor should you make the appointment yourself.
  5. Go to your appointment at the Observatorio campus Blood Bank with:
    • Copy of the protocol’s informed consent already signed
    • Official Identification (INE, Professional License, Passport)
    • 4 to 6 hours fasting
    • Go with a face mask/mask and alone
  6. At the Blood Bank:
    1. You will be provided with a donor file (privacy notice, clinical history, and informed consent), which you must personally read, fill out, and sign.
    2. You will be given a general evaluation as a donor candidate.
    3. If you meet the donor criteria, plasma extraction will be performed by apheresis (approximately 400-600 mL).
