Natural delivery in LDR rooms

The physical health of the mother and the baby is evaluated, the father or companion can be with the mother and the baby at all times, the use of unnecessary painkillers is minimized, breathing techniques and pain management such as massages, warm water baths, physical and emotional support are used. The mother can request painkillers when she decides.

We have fully equipped LDR Rooms that allow labor, birth, and recovery to be carried out in the same room and seek to keep mother and baby together to preserve the bond between them.

Normal or conventional delivery

Normal delivery is the physiological process with which the woman ends her pregnancy, it is recommended that the pregnancy does not exceed the limit (42 weeks). Ideally, its onset is spontaneous. As soon as the baby is born, it is placed in the mother’s arms, maintaining skin-to-skin contact for one to two hours, strengthening the bond between them, as long as the conditions of both allow it.

Includes care in labor and delivery rooms, and recovery area, as well as the service of a physiological nursery for medical monitoring of the newborn.

C-section

Indicated when surgical support is needed for the baby’s birth, a companion can also access the operating room. A c-section can be scheduled in advance if you present any of the indications for surgical resolution of pregnancy or it can be a last-minute option to preserve the well-being of mother and baby.

Circumcision
Circumcision is a common procedure in which the skin covering the tip of your baby’s penis is surgically removed. It is usually done to newborn babies before they leave the hospital. It is a parent’s decision.

Diagnostic studies

Hearing screening: It offers a timely diagnosis of your baby’s hearing status. It consists of placing a small hearing aid in the baby’s ear for a few seconds and in this way, it is recorded if there is any hearing loss. It is recommended to be done before 3 months.
Heart screening: It allows to identify cardiac anomalies in your baby’s heart. It is recommended to perform it the first 48 hours after birth.
Metabolic screening: It consists of taking a blood sample from the heel to identify diseases such as congenital hypothyroidism and galactosemia. It is recommended to be done in the first 5 days of birth.

Safety for your baby

We have electronic readers with which we can monitor your location and that of your baby in real time, in case of detecting an anomaly, security protocols are activated.

Babies are always cared for by a custodian, they accompany them at all times in case of transfer and double verification measures are always applied to confirm the identity of the baby and its parents.

We have a security protocol at the time of patient discharge to guarantee that the minor can leave the hospital with their parents.

Doulas’ support and assistance

Doulas are women who accompany women during pregnancy, birth, and postnatal period, facilitating the transformation and adaptation to the changes that occur during this process.

At Centro Médico ABC you can be accompanied by your Doula to provide you with additional emotional and physical support during labor and the birth of your baby.

High risk pregnancy

High-risk pregnancies are recognized as those cases in which health problems occur before pregnancy, during pregnancy, during delivery or in your baby, putting your health, your life and that of your baby at risk. In most cases, special medical care is required during pregnancy.

  • Young or elderly mothers
    Pregnancy in children under 16 or women 35 years of age or older increases the risk of pregnancy.
  • Multiple pregnancy
    The risks are higher for women who are pregnant with twins or more than two babies.
  • Existing health conditions
    As high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, obesity, infections, and drug use can increase the risks of pregnancy.
  • History in previous pregnancies
    Premature births, weight less than 2,500g or greater than 4,500g of the last baby, spontaneous abortions, fetal or neonatal deaths, pre-eclampsia can increase the risk.
