Packing a postpartum bag with everything you need will help you and your baby feel more comfortable during your hospital stay and when you leave, so take the time to pack it!

The time to go to the hospital will be when you are 36 weeks pregnant, have 3 to 4 contractions every 30 minutes, or your water breaks and because this can happen suddenly, you need to have everything you and your baby may need when the big day arrives.

What cannot miss in your suitcase:

Items for mom

  • Shampoo of your choice
  • Soap
  • Sponge
  • Toothpaste and toothbrush
  • Body lotion
  • Flip flops
  • Sanitary pads (preferably obstetric nocturnal)
  • Pijama
  • Nursing bra and pads
  • Comfortable underwear (100% cotton is recommended) and two or three changes of comfortable clothes, to wear during the time of stay and to leave the hospital
  • Baby car seat

Baby items

  • T shirt
  • Socks
  • Onesie
  • 2 changes of clothes
  • Beanie
  • Gloves
  • 1 pack of newborn diapers
  • 1 pack of baby wipes
  • A thick blanket

It is also important that you consider going with short nails and a carry-on bag where you keep all your personal belongings.

This is a list of everything you may need, however, remember to talk to your doctor to find out if there is anything else you or your little one may need.
