It is normal for someone to wonder what the vaccination card is for. This instrument, better known as the National Health Card, is an official and personal document for Mexicans.

It is essential for health personnel, the user, and their families to have control and monitor the different actions promoting health, its prevention, timely detection, and control of diseases.

What is the national vaccination card and what is it for?

The main purpose of the vaccination card is to promote self-care by having varied information on nutrition, deworming, addiction prevention, detection or control of diseases, the vaccination schedule, actions for health promotion, upcoming medical appointments, among others.

Child vaccination card and adult vaccination card

In Mexico, vaccination cards are divided according to each person and their age range:

  • Boys and girls (for newborns to nine years)
  • Adolescents (10 to 19 years old)
  • Adult woman (20 to 59 years old)
  • Adult male (20 to 59 years old)
  • Older adult (regardless of gender, from the age of 60)

If you have wondered what the vaccination card is for, this control will make it easier to monitor people’s health status, as well as a correct control in the vaccination schedule.
