What it's for:

Evaluation of patients with thrombosis or hypercoagulation. Screen for a lupus-like blood thinner; dysfibrinogenemia; disseminated intravascular coagulation/intravascular coagulation and fibrinolysis. Detection of antithrombin, protein C, or protein S deficiency. Screening for activated protein C resistance (and factor V R506Q [Leiden] mutation if indicated). Detection of the G20210A prothrombin mutation.
