Partnership Between YouTube Health and ABC Medical Center

Alianza entre YouTube Health y el Centro Médico ABC

Social media has become a powerful tool for people searching for information. But that same ease of creating content and making it available to the public has become a double-edged sword when it comes to the reliability of what we’re watching.

Today, many users look up information about conditions and symptoms before going to a medical appointment. With this in mind, YouTube, the world’s second-largest search engine, launched its YouTube Health service in Mexico on April 20, an initiative already available in the United States and Germany and now expanding into Latin America.

Through YouTube Health, clips will feature trusted, certified sources, ensuring people watch videos backed by solid technical and scientific credibility.

YouTube Health Mexico as Support for Clinical EducationYouTube Health in Mexico has selected healthcare partners, including ABC Medical Center, that produce verified, high-quality content in support of this goal.

Through this partnership, ABC Medical Center will provide health information to the general public, helping people become better-informed patients when making decisions about their health, by learning more about diseases, their symptoms, and their treatments. All of this will be explained clearly and accessibly from a medical standpoint, ensuring the information supports decision-making before, during, and after a medical visit.

Now, content uploaded by ABC Medical Center on its YouTube channel, along with that of other participants in this initiative, will appear in an information carousel labeled “From health-focused sources.” Once a video starts playing, it will display the caption “From an accredited health service provider.”

To identify health-focused content sources, YouTube Health uses a set of principles and definitions developed by a panel of U.S. experts convened by the National Academy of Medicine and later reviewed by the American Public Health Association. The World Health Organization’s work is also used as a reference.

This partnership complements ABC Medical Center’s broader commitments to society and aims to lead the transformation of healthcare in Mexico.
