Cutting-Edge Infrastructure and Technology
Alongside precision medicine, there has been an increasingly rapid growth over the past two decades in understanding the molecular bases of diseases studied in pathology departments. Thanks to this, molecular pathology has emerged as a branch that employs an expanding range of molecular biology techniques to study nucleic acids, genes, gene products, receptors, and alterations in cellular signaling pathways that may cause diseases.
ABC Medical Center has expanded its Molecular Pathology Laboratory, established in 2014, with new facilities and upgraded equipment.
The techniques performed in the molecular pathology laboratory allow for the detection of gene alterations in patient samples through fluorescently labeled probes (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization—FISH) or by amplifying genes of interest (Polymerase Chain Reaction—PCR) to determine eligibility for targeted therapies and the prognosis of our patients.
Additionally, both the Molecular Pathology Laboratory and the Surgical Pathology Laboratory have implemented the use of digital platforms, artificial intelligence algorithms, and bioinformatics tools to better interpret each patient’s samples.

The Laboratory Division of ABC Medical Center has been certified by the College of American Pathologists, a world leader in improving the quality of specialized laboratory services, since 2017.
