Dolly Botton, ganadora del Premio Cowdray 2025, rodeada de sus compañeras y amigas, las Pink Ladies.

The fundamental mission of Centro Médico ABC is to safeguard the health and safety of its patients through the implementation of clinical best practices, leading the transformation of healthcare both in Mexico and internationally. This ongoing commitment has established the institution as an absolute benchmark in the health sector and the top hospital in Mexico.

To consolidate this leadership, the selfless dedication of staff, donors, physicians, and volunteers has been essential. To formally recognize those individuals or organizations that enrich and elevate the institutional culture through voluntary service, the Board of Trustees of Centro Médico ABC established the prestigious Cowdray Award in 2007, an annual distinction.

This award pays tribute to the memory of Lord and Lady Cowdray, pioneering philanthropists whose vision and generosity marked a historic milestone in the founding and development of this great medical institution.

Candidate Eligibility and Selection Criteria

The nomination process for the Cowdray Award is governed by strict guidelines aligned with Centro Médico ABC’s philosophy of excellence. Nominees must meet the following key criteria:

  • Institutional Track Record: A minimum of 10 years of continuous service dedicated to the institution.
  • Nature of Service: Outstanding contributions in both social/volunteer work and professional (paid) roles are considered.
  • Expanded Eligibility: Open to individuals, non-profit organizations, or organized collectives.
  • Areas of Impact: Active members of Board committees, major recurring donors, specialist physicians, members of the Volunteer Ladies (Damas Voluntarias), or affiliates of official volunteer programs.
  • Ethical Attributes: Nominations are meticulously evaluated based on the candidate’s core values, unwavering integrity, dedication, proactivity, and a distinct positive impact on the hospital community.

Technical Nominations Committee and Award Presentation

The final decision regarding the award recipient rests with a high-level jury. The Nominations Committee is officially composed of:

  • The President of the Board of Trustees of Centro Médico ABC.
  • The Director General of the institution.
  • A minimum of two board members or individuals directly familiar with the nominees’ career trajectories.

The award consists of an honorary diploma and a scale replica of the iconic sculpture "Vuelo" ("Flight"), created by the renowned artist Naomi Siegmann, whose original piece adorns the main entrance fountain at the Santa Fe Campus. The official ceremony is held annually during the Ordinary Annual Meeting of Associates.
