What is post-concussion syndrome?

11 December 2025

This refers to a neurological condition caused by symptoms that persist after a low-intensity traumatic brain injury, also known as a concussion, whether from a car accident, falls, contact sports, or violent movements of the head and body, among others.

Post-concussion syndrome occurs weeks, months, or years after a brain injury, even if consciousness was not lost.

Like any condition, there are a number of factors that can favor the onset of this condition, the main ones being being female and being in adulthood.
