If I have cancer, how do I protect myself?
The best way to prevent illness is to not be exposed to the virus. The precautions to avoid COVID-19 are the same as for the general population:
- Avoid socializing in large groups and close contact with sick people.
- Avoid unnecessary direct contact, such as shaking hands or kissing.
- Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose.
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing, and before and after having contact with other people.
What can I do to continue receiving my treatment?
Call your doctor before going to your next appointment and follow their recommendations. Some cancer treatments will be safely delayed and others will not. Some follow-up appointments may be delayed or rescheduled.
We applied security measures at the ABC Cancer Center to protect you in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic so that you continue with your treatment with the confidence of being in the best hands:
We have totally isolated and separated areas for COVID-19 patients.
All medical, clinical, and nursing staff are exclusively dedicated to caring for cancer patients and are not present in COVID-19 patient care areas.
What do I do if I participate in a cancer treatment clinical trial?
Contact the research team and follow their recommendations. The health of each patient participating in clinical trials is of primary concern and flexibility will be provided as to how these trials will be completed, as well as when tests or evaluations will be performed.
What do I do if I have symptoms?
Call your doctor if you think you have been exposed to the disease or if you have symptoms of infection.
