  • Integrally prepare women for motherhood.
  • Detect risk situations throughout pregnancy.
  • Prenatal check-up.

What is the difference between an obstetrician and an ob/gyn?

It is common to know the term obstetrician and the medical term ob-gyn, without really understanding the difference between one and the other.

Gynecology is a specialty that focuses on checking and treating diseases related to the female reproductive organs; while the obstetrician focuses on the periodic review throughout the pregnancy, as well as the possible complications that could arise in this period of life.

It is normal that gynecologists are also obstetricians and thus give the necessary care to women before, during, and after pregnancy, they are known as ob-gyn.

When should I see an obstetrician?

Once the woman has confirmed that she is pregnant and sees an obstetrician, the appointments known as prenatal control will begin and continue during the 40 weeks of pregnancy.
