What is Allergies?

21:53 - 4 May , 2021

Disease

The immune system’s reaction in the presence of a foreign  substance that in many people does not cause a response but that in certain cases is identified as aggressive in nature, such as chemicals, pet hair, food components, drugs, insect bites, dust mites, among others.

When they come into contact with your body’s defenses, they generate antibodies to fight the allergen or harmful substance, so your immune system will produce skin irritation or rash, facial, hands and feet swelling, digestive and respiratory problems.

The intensity of an allergic condition varies depending on the person, since there may be mild manifestations such as skin burning up to anaphylaxis, which can be life-threatening.

Allergies are incurable in a high percentage, so it is important to try to prevent them once the allergens are known. In case of episodes, the treatment is to control the symptoms through drugs.
