Recommended for adolescents and young adults (both men and women).

Benefits: Prevents cervical, anal, throat, and other types of cancer. Prevents genital warts.

Effectiveness: Protects against nine high-risk HPV types, including HPV 16 and 18, which are responsible for most cervical cancer cases.

What is Human Papillomavirus (HPV)?

HPV is primarily transmitted through sexual contact. Both men and women who are sexually active can contract HPV at some point in their lives. Some types of HPV cause warts or papillomas (non-cancerous tumors), while others are linked to cancer.

HPV is the leading cause of most cervical cancer cases and is also associated with cancers of the vagina, vulva, penis, anus, and oropharynx (throat and tongue cancer).

Indications for the Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (Gardasil 9)

Vaccination is indicated to prevent infection with the most dangerous types of HPV, especially HPV 16 and 18, which are directly linked to cancer.

HPV Vaccine (Gardasil 9) Dosage Schedule

The vaccine is administered in three doses:

  • First dose: First dose: On the chosen date.
  • Second dose: 1 to 2 months after the first dose.
  • Third dose: 6 months after the first dose.
