What is Abnormal bleeding?

They appear for different causes that are not attributable to the menstrual period. An increase or decrease in the usual discharge could suggest an underlying problem causing the vaginal bleeding. 

Potential causes and risks:

There are different causes that can lead to abnormal vaginal bleeding. Among the most common are spontaneous abortion, an ectopic pregnancy, hormonal diseases, cases of placenta previa, infections, internal injuries, and even some drugs and certain contraceptive methods.

In addition to bleeding, symptoms usually include fatigue, abdominal and/or pelvic pain or discomfort. Other signs and symptoms will depend on the bleeding’s cause.
