Differences between the Essential Check-up and the General Check-up
The General Checkup includes additional studies such as:
- Apolipoprotein B: This marker is essential for cholesterol transport in the blood and is linked to the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It is associated with conditions such as atherosclerosis (heart attack and stroke), hyperlipidemia (high lipid levels), familial dyslipidemias (such as familial hypercholesterolemia), metabolic syndrome (obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia), and liver diseases (such as cirrhosis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease).
- Cystatin C: This is a protein that regulates enzymes responsible for breaking down other proteins. Measuring it allows for a more accurate assessment of kidney function, making it a more reliable marker than creatinine for detecting kidney problems, especially in early stages. It is used to identify chronic kidney disease and monitor renal health.
- Thyroid profile: This test helps diagnose and monitor thyroid disorders such as hypothyroidism (low thyroid activity) or hyperthyroidism (high thyroid activity), and assesses the overall function of the thyroid gland.
- HbA1c: This is essential for evaluating long-term glucose control and for diagnosing diabetes or prediabetes.
