How to fight the seasonal flu

Seasonal flu is a virus that attacks the respiratory system and is caused by type A or B influenza viruses.

This disease is characterized by fever, cough, muscle, joint, head and throat pain, intense discomfort, and abundant nasal discharge.

Although all groups of people are vulnerable to contracting this virus, some are more at risk of complications than others, such as children under five years old, the elderly, and patients with chronic diseases or immunosuppression.

The most effective way to prevent seasonal flu is vaccination. The World Health Organization recommends annual vaccination in pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy, children from 6 months to 5 years, people over 65 years old, patients with chronic illnesses, and health professionals.

In addition to vaccination, we share some measures with which you can prevent seasonal flu.

  • Wash your hands constantly.
  • Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing.
  • If you have symptoms, isolate yourself to avoid infecting others.
  • Avoid contact with sick people.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose.
